On October 7, 2020, Governor Ralph Northam announced that Virginia is allocating $30 million in funding from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Recovery, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to improve broadband access in unserved localities. 50 localities were awarded funding for 71 projects, spending the federal dollars to connect Virginians to high-speed, broadband.
